my self care has just been learning how to say no to others and myself, especially when i'm out of balance.

This is so important and should not be underestimated as a form of self care!

Self care to me is giving whatever my mind, soul and body needs. My go to’s right now are therapy, group therapy, meals w/friends, hiking and laying down. Lol. In the past it’s been travel, massages, yoga & manicures. I’d like to add pole dancing classes when I land a job to reclaim my sexuality.

So many good things, and I love that you included laying down! Excited for you to get on the pole -- how liberating 😊

I still struggle with not feeling self care has to be earned. Lots of unpacking stuff from childhood. I appreciate this post

I hear you -- it takes time to redefine these ideas for ourselves. ❤️

I am not good at this. It helps me to read how others are thinking about this. I was taught that thinking about myself was selfish. From a early age people depended on me, so I received love from work. I spent a lot of time listening because I was very dyslexic in a time when no one’s understood it. At sixteen a teacher saw something in me and helped me with tools that I need for small successes. I think proving to myself that I’m worthy is when I feel self care the most.

You are absolutely worthy, my dear. And it is hard to adjust after a lifetime of always giving. Keep building on those moments you already have and it will get easier ❤️
