Hello friends,
I hope you had some memorable moments of joy and connection over the summer. So much has happened in these few months—it has been both beautiful and challenging. And now I am ready to settle inside with my tea collection and get back to writing.
At this moment, I am dreaming up the next iteration of BGCL newsletter and podcast—thinking of going back to basics and more conversations! This continues to be a space for me to evolve creatively and try new things. I am grateful for all of you who have been with me on this ride.
Until then, I have an exciting announcement…
I am happy to share that I have finally birthed the thing that I have most wanted to create—Rewilding Coaching! I’ve spent years designing coaching programs in my corporate career—and this is the first time I got to create something that is built on the wisdom and ideas that I have earned.
There is so much I could tell you about why this is meaningful. But maybe I should start my sharing why coaching is something that matters to me.
I’ve watched coaching transform individuals and organizations.
After a brief stint as a therapist at in in-patient hospital, I realized I wanted my work to educate and empower people. I got a job as a ‘Quit Coach’ where I helped people adopt the skills and practices to quit smoking. Then I became a trainer and designed a mindfulness coaching program for that same company where I taught veterans how to use meditation to manage PTSD. I had no idea how revolutionary it was at the time.
After that, I hopped from Genentech, to Norsdrom, to Amazon, to AWS where I specialized in designing executive level coaching programs, which was essentially helping leaders make better decisions. My favorite and most creative project was designing a cross-functional mentorship program as part of Jeff Bezos’ succession planning. It was a fascinating and absolutely wild time.
What I loved most about that work was curating intentional experiences where personal transformation could unfold. My programs always prioritized creating a safe space for dialogue, cultivating curiosity, and allowing for authentic connection. These combined with a strong curriculum is what allows people to learn and grow.
The best coaching comes from lived experience.
I knew when I left my corporate career that I wanted to build a coaching program. I wanted to help educate and guide other people who felt called to slow down and be more connected to themselves, community, and the living world. But it has taken me a a while to hone my skills and get clear on what I have to offer.
I’ve spent years investing in my own education and coaching to help me achieve my goal of building a business that does good in the world. I have worked with a homestead coach, a land stewardship coach, a financial coach, a corporate exit coach, a breathwork coach, a business coach, a writing coach, an energy coach, and more.
All these people have left an imprint on my hearth and helped shape my own coaching philosophy. Now more than ever, I believe deeply in working side-by-side people who have walked the path that I want to go down. It has helped me to realize there is no replacement for embodied wisdom.
A relationship with nature has given me a reason to fight.
The work it took to get here has been painstaking. It’s required lots of difficult conversations with myself about what I truly value. It has forced me to ask myself, in a world that is literally burning, what am I willing to stand for.
After years of writing and processing this journey, what I feel most passionate about is the thing that has changed me the most—finding a deep connection to nature. It’s a connection that has transformed my life and helped me find my way home to myself.
It is a relationship that called me to begin writing. To quit my job. To homeschool my kids. To learn how to farm. To build a new community. And to create a business that gives back to farmers—the people who are tending this Earth, saving our communities, and feeding us all at the same time.
A relationship to nature has made me a better mother to my kids, a more collaborative partner to my husband, and less critical voice towards myself. It has helped me to take greater accountability in my life, build trust for my own decision-making, and to believe that a different way is possible for all of us.
This relationship pushed me to ask better questions and see life beyond the binary we’re sold. It continues to give me the courage to redefine myself by my own standards and develop a love for myself for the first time in my life.
It has taught me that perfectionism is a cruel joke. That life is one large act of creation. That joy only exists in the present. That art is important. And that we are called to create a world we want to live in.
Now I am excited to guide more women down this path.
When I think back to who I was 5 years ago, the change is astonishing. Then, I was lost is a world where progress was linear and I was always contorting myself to fit a mold that was never designed for me.
I always played by the rules and I was miserable. I was stuck hoping that happiness would come in my next promotion, a luxe vacation, or an updated wardrobe. I wanted to create a space for other women who feel lost and stuck to find themselves and see that a new path is possible:
For those who have put all their energy into achieving but yearn for something deeper in life—something real.
For those who want to savor the joy that life has to offer but have no idea where to find it.
For the woman who wants to slow down but fears what may happen if she stops being everything to everyone.
For those who want richer, more honest relationships with people they love.
For the woman who is so in her head that she feels detached from the very body that grounds her to the Earth.
And for those who have never taken time to know the beauty and complexity that lives within them.
These are all challenges that I know deeply and have found the courage to face them—because I have found a deep and loving connection to the natural world. Nature has shown me grace, given me perspective, and revealed to me what is truly important.
And now it is your turn.
If you are ready to step into a new way of understanding yourself and the world through connecting to nature, I would love to be your guide.
